Martial Arts - Wereldmuseum
Cinemore was commissioned by Wereldmuseum Amsterdam (formerly Tropenmuseum) to produce all audiovisual content for the new “Martial Arts” exhibition. The content spans interviews, short documentaries from archival material, animations, slideshows, and graphics.
In the first video portrait, Pencak Silat teacher Cleo Tjitrodipo demonstrates the techniques and principles of this traditional Indonesian martial art. Cleo shares insights into the ancient practice, discussing its significance in his life and his commitment to preserving and passing on Pencak Silat to future generations.
In the second video, Bao Yao Fei, a design conservator and former world kung fu (Wushu) champion, looks back on his unique journey. Starting at the age of three, his father set a strict routine, requiring him to train for seven hours every day. This strong commitment helped Bao Yao Fei become a multiple-time European and World Champion. The film explores how martial arts shaped his life, showing both the successes and the personal sacrifices. It is part of the new exhibition “Martial Arts” at the Wereldmuseum Amsterdam.
